    Hourly (Non-Exempt)

    Primary Duties

    1. Provide services in accordance with the client’s plan of care,
    2. Follow instructions for client care written by the professional required for the services provided.
    3. Duties may include:
      1. Help with prescribed exercises which the client and in-home aides have been taught by appropriate professional personnel;
      2. Provide or assist with personal care( i.e., bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair);
      3. Assist with ambulation;
      4. Assist client with self-administration of medication that is ordered by a physician or other person authorized by state law to prescribe medications;
      5. Perform incidental household services which are essential to the client’s care at home which may include but are not limited to meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, organizing incoming mail;
      6. Perform or assist with other life activities which may include grooming and dressing guidance, clothing shopping, recreational activities, running errands, periodic reviews with the family, and providing transport to appointments and other activities (i.e., doctor appointments, beauty shop); and
      7. Report and record changes in the client’s condition, family situation or needs to the supervisor and when applicable the appropriate health care professional.
    4. Follow all Comfort Keepers policies and procedures.
    5. Work within the guidelines of applicable NC state regulations and licensing requirements.
    6. Daily completes all paperwork required by Comfort Keepers or NC state regulation.
    7. Work with assigned clients that will change based on the needs of the client and the agency.

    Essential Functions:

    1. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license and carry vehicle insurance. A copy of the current policy must be submitted to Comfort Keepers.
    2. Physical functions which are considered essential to the satisfactory performance of the job include the following: driving, writing, reading, using the telephone, ability to do all household chores, and assist client according to the Plan of Care.
    3. Demonstrate responsible and professional behaviors in the Care of Clients and in interactions with family members and the public.
    4. Submit to a pre-employment drug screen test and random drug testing during employment with Comfort Keepers.
    5. Provide written permission and submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.

    Qualifications:

    1. Ability and desire to work with Comfort Keepers clients.
    2. High School graduate with preference given for CNA certification.
    3. Must be at least 18 years of age.
    4. Must hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
    5. Professional integrity with no history of abuse towards a person.

    Hours:

    Hours and days may vary from week to week. The client’s Plan of Care may require sleeping/working overnight in a client’s home.

    Other:

    The probationary period for the position is a minimum of 90 days. This position is renewed annually as a part of the performance evaluation process. This position is an at-will position; both the employee and the employer can terminate the employment relationship at any time with or without cause or notice. The employee is asked to provide the employer with a minimum of 14 days’ notice of resignation to prevent the disruption of client services.
